
Code of Conduct for the Professional Magicians Alliance
Approved by the Member of the Professional Magicians Alliance,on April 15 2001.
Foreword
The members of the Professional Magicians Alliance (PMA), under the principles of this code of conduct, engage in the promotion of excellence amongst their peers. By observing this code, the members of the PMA will be offering a warranty as to quality of services. This warranty will have an impact at three level which are: (1) responsibility toward the public, (2) responsibility toward the profession and (3) respect onto thyself.
Article I. Responsibility Toward The Public
1.1 Offer through the Alliance proven professional magician services.
1.2 Selective membership, based on stringent criteria, with regards to the specific credential of the artist and his attitude on quality servicing of the client. The whole under guidance of the Selection Committee of the PMA.
1.3 Pursue an objective of appropriate honorarium based on the levels of service, competence and needs of the client.
1.4 Knowledge of their own limits and do not hesitate to propose another member magician if the task requested is beyond our own.
1.5 Advise the client early under "Force Majeur" that would prevent the magician to complete an agreement and do whatever is needed to bail out the client of this unforeseen situation by preparing tentative arrangement with another member subject to the client approval.
1.6 If a client request, do not hesitate to supply proper references.
Article II. Responsibility Toward The Profession
2.1 Avoid nuisance to the reputation of other magicians whatever the reasons.
2.2 Notify the Selection Committee of any non professional conduct of a member.
2.3 Be open to learn and teach with the objective of promoting excellence amongst our profession.
2.4 Keep the professional secrets of the magical fraternity and refuse to explain the methods uses in our own act of those of others.
Article III. Responsibility Toward Thyself
3.1
To look for appropriate professional help should personal problems could interfere
with rendering the quality of services expected from our membership.
